In November of 2013 Pascal Vu Anh Quan Saken's large luxury yacht, Phocea, which he had bought in 2012. was the only boat to survive the heaviest storm in Phuket since the Tsunami 2004 catastrophy undamaged, as the was the strongest built yacht there. Many other vessels were not that lucky, as you can see on our photos showing destroyed boats on the Phuket beach below.
Phocea was battered by heavy seas (see videos below) and got stuck in the mud for 4 days. Her keel had sunk 1.5 m deep into it. For 4 days we attempted to free her but the tugboat employed could not pull her out, despite repeated attempts. Our rescue team also included 3 professional divers. During the work one of our workers lost a finger and had to undergo medical treatment.
In the end we had to wait for the high tide at full moon to pull her out. So we started a dramatic night resuce operation with 2 tugboats and at midnight we finally succeeded in pulling her out.
Thereafter Mr. Pascal Saken invested Euro 3,000,000.- for modifying Phocea. He is outfitting the yacht with a new teak deck. She is also is getting a new coat of paint. Also, a new generator and new air-conditioning are installed. The interiors of the yacht are also to be completely modified and the sails will be renewed. The result will be a totally new vessel.
The job should be completed within a few months. The yacht also got a new name: Enigma.
She is currently lying in Phuket and if you wish to assist with the rebuilt you are welcome...
